Abstract
In this thesis, a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm is proposed to improve car wheel design. Designing such a high-end product often includes various goals. In order to achieve an optimal solution, there has to be made a compromise between crucial factors like strength, cost, and mass. Tremendous amounts of possible solutions make it extremely challenging for an engineer. Therefore, the multi-objective genetic algorithm with bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization method is used to improve the design process of a car wheel with detailed design requirements. The car wheel will be evaluated in sophisticated CAD software – SolidWorks. Finite element method with static analysis will be conducted until an optimal solution has been discovered.
